Aspidistra elatior

Description

Aspidistra, commonly known as the Cast-iron plant, with its glossy dark green leaves of 30–50 cm long. This plant can tolerate a fair degree of neglect and is a low maintenance houseplant that thrives in a bright spot near a window.  

Growth Spread	Continuous spreading through rhizones
Growth Height	60 cm
Water Requirements	Keep moist, but avoid over-watering.
Frost Sensitive	No. Can tolerate temperatures up to -5°C
Flowering Period	Not grown for flowers. But fleshy flowers are born spring/ early summer.
Light Requirements	Bright indirect sun to shade. No direct sun.
Soil Requirements	Well drained,  compost rich soil.
