Description
Colocasia esculenta ‘Black Beauty’ with its dark purplish black stem, leaves and deep green veins. Often confused with the darker Colocasia esculenta Black Magic and Colocasia Illustris, with is a green stem and lighter purple-black leaves with lighter green veins. Bright indirect light to full sun generally brings out the best leaf color for this cultivar. However, in hot summers, plants appear to do best in part shade, particularly with some light afternoon shade. Very popular as a house plant, or in water gardens and ponds as it is very happy to stand in water up to 15cm deep.
